1.10, the first release of The Frostburn Update,[1] was a Minecraft: Java Edition update, released on June 8, 2016. The main focus of this update was to improve the environment and add new mobs to hot and cold biomes, such as deserts and ice plains.

Options[edit | edit source]

  • A new "Auto-Jump" feature, which can be toggled within the game settings, though it is on by default. To toggle it, Esc-Options-Controls.
  • options.txt now has its own version number.
  • VBOs are now enabled by default.

Blocks[edit | edit source]

Mobs[edit | edit source]

  • Polar Bear - Cubs are peaceful, adults are neutral unless cubs are nearby.
  • Stray - Variation of a skeleton, with white eyes and ragged clothing. It will often spawn in place of regular skeletons in colder biomes, and gives Slowness with its arrows.
  • Husk - Variation of a zombie, is immune to sunlight. It will often spawn in place of regular zombies in desert biomes, and gives the player Food Poisoning when it attack the player.

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Limit on numerical block IDs removed.
  • Block states can now be used in the /setblock command.
    • For example, setting down a block of blue wool will be /setblock <x> <y> <z> blue_wool instead of /setblock <x> <y> <z> minecraft:wool 11.
  • Endermen can now reach the Nether.
  • Changes to Abandoned Mineshafts spawning in Badlands Biomes (they can now spawn on the surface).
  • Changes to villages.
    • Villages can now be partially built on beach and river biomes.
    • Village roads built over grass are now made of Grass Path which are a light shade of green.
      • Village roads built on beaches will still be Gravel.
      • Village roads that go over water are now made of Wooden Planks.

Subsequent updates[edit | edit source]

1.10.1[edit | edit source]

Released on June 22, 2016, this version gave Farmland a 15/16 block tall hitbox instead of a full block. It also fixed six issues.

1.10.2[edit | edit source]

Released on June 23, 2016, this version fixed a bug in 1.10.1 that caused a crash upon loading a world, along with 73 total issues.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Gold spawning on the surface layer in badlands biomes was first added to the Pocket Edition.
  • This is one of the most minor updates in the history of Minecraft.
  • Polar Bears were added because lead developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten's wife likes them.
