Editions[edit | edit source]

Free[edit | edit source]

This is the basic edition which can manage one Minecraft server instance on a single machine, with the inclusion of a text-based ad announcing that the server is run by Multicraft.

Owned[edit | edit source]

This edition allows 2-10 Minecraft server instances on a single installation.

Dynamic[edit | edit source]

This license allows any number of Minecraft servers and there is a volume discount on the monthly price that depends on the number of servers. The number of machines it is deployed on has no effect on the price.

Security[edit | edit source]

Not following the security recommendations that have been outlined on their website can cause installations to be open to certain kinds of malicious activity.[1]

Failure to configure the software correctly can lead to several potential issues:

  • Having the "protected" directory unprotected: by a malicious user using undisclosed exploits (not just in Multicraft, example: Apache) the could read and write files in this directory.
  • API access being abused: the API can be abused if a malicious user gets a hold of the API details, so if it's not being used it should be disabled.
  • Having unrestricted superuser access: a malicious users gaining access to an unrestricted superuser access gives them the highest level of power on your panel.
  • Having public access to Multicrafts daemon connections: this is a huge security problem, allowing the possibility to brute-force attack.
  • Not separating the Daemon and Panel databases: if together, and a Daemon gets hacked into by a malicious user, the entire network of Multicraft daemons is at risk.
  • Not running the Daemon in multiuser mode: without using multiuser mode, users servers are not properly separated and plugins can be "crafted" to have malicious.
