Daniel Rosenfeld, also known as C418, is a German independent composer who composed most of the music tracks and ambient noise in Minecraft as well as the songs for all of the music discs except Pigstep. He has also produced some of the game's sound effects, such as footsteps, and released two volumes of Minecraft's soundtrack: Volume Alpha (2011) and Volume Beta (2013).
He met Notch on an IRC channel and he was selected to make music for Notch's game prototypes.
