Ghast Tears are items that have a chance to be dropped by Ghasts when they are killed. It can be very difficult to obtain ghast tears, due to the difficulty of killing ghasts and because ghasts tend to hover over lava. However, if you use a fishing rod you can lure them towards you to prevent and ghast tears from falling into lava.
Uses[edit | edit source]
Ghast tears are secondary ingredients that are used to brew regeneration potions. Jeb realized that if a player dies with a ghast tear in their inventory, they could respawn as if nothing happened. However, this was never added.

Ghast tears were added in Java Edition Beta 1.9 Prerelease 1. They were used to make potions of healing in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3; however, due to the sheer difficulty of obtaining them, ghast tears now brewed the potion of regeneration, with the glistering melon added to create potions of healing in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4.
