Granite is a naturally occurring block found in most Overworld biomes.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Granite was first released in the Bountiful Update (1.8) for the PC version and version 0.9.0 for Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Naturally-occurring granite can be found everywhere underground, usually in large patches. It's usually exposed on the surface in Extreme Hills Biomes, but it can generate in other biomes as well. If normal granite is placed in a 2× square in the lower-left corner of a crafting table, the outcome will be 4 blocks of polished granite.

Polished Granite[edit | edit source]

Polished Granite is a smooth product created after crafting 4 granite blocks together. It is mainly used as a decorative, building block, and it was originally only craftable with a stonecutter when it first appeared in Pocket Edition. Mason villagers have a chance to buy polished granite in exchange for emeralds.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Granite was released on Minecraft: Pocket Edition (now known as Bedrock Edition) before Java Edition.
  • Trying to make a slab of polished granite will result in three stone slabs in the Windows 10 Edition, but this may be a bug in the game.
