The smithing table is a utility block found within villages, which can upgrade diamonds tools to Netherite Tools.

Source[edit | edit source]

A smithing table may generate within a blacksmith building in a Village if it was generated after update 1.14. They can also be Crafted by players, using the recipe below. If a village has a smithing table but no toolsmith, any nearby Villager without a profession has a chance to become a toolsmith.

Crafting[edit | edit source]

Smithing tables can be crafted by combining wood planks and iron ingots.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • A toolsmith villager working on a smithing table will produce a sound as if an anvil is being used.
  • The smithing table is used to upgrade diamond tools to Netherite tools.
  • Unlike anvils, smithing tables cost no experience when upgrading to netherite.
  • Before the 1.16 update, the Smithing Table had no function other than a villager work block.
