/// Bread is a food item available in Indev and Infdev. It can be crafted by putting three Wheat in a horizontal line. Bread restores 2.5 Hearts, but it takes a somewhat lengthy process to make (See Farming). Compared to the other two possible food sources, Bread is usually harder to obtain; it takes the longest and requires the most materials, and grants the least health (aside from uncooked pork and apples). This has led some to believe that farming is a worthless endeavor.

i feel that this needs to change.

bread isnt a worthless endeavor, it takes some time to setup but when thats done it will grow as you expand your base.

whenever i return to my home base i usually have about 30-36 Wheat waiting for me and enough seeds to plant again and save untill i expand my farm.

dont know how any of you guys feel but its clearly not useless.

well, you have to admit, to kill a pig is much less labourous than to plant, harvest, plant, harvest etc.--Kizzycocoa 12:14, 17 September 2010 (CDT)

Sure, hunting pigs gets results faster, but youll never have to hunt unless you really want to.
harvesting and replanting seeds takes about one minute, didnt count in the time spent at the crafting table since i already harvested and replanted before i timed it, harvesting gave me 33 wheats which turn in to 11 fresh bread
running out from my base hunting down a pig took one minute and 40 seconds without cooking.
thing is pigs are great when theyre are near you and when you can find them easily, wheat just sits there until you need it, im not saying that bread is better im just saying that it isnt useless.
maybe im cursed but ive never come across alot of pigs on my minecraft maps thats why im farming instead.

well, I can't deny that, but in a squeeze, pigs are better. pigs are everywhere, bread is at your base. you are more likely to be in danger outside your base. so, you're more likely to come across a pig for health, unless you're one of those people that don't stray too far from home.--Kizzycocoa 12:37, 17 September 2010 (CDT)
usually run all over the place with my precious bread nicely tucked away in a pocket =).
and when i get back to my base i got all the bread i need to restock my pocket.
yeah, I guess. but the work is very tedious. I myself use farming, but I go adventuring. it simply isn't worth it IMO to lug around a row of bread. because to heal fully, you need four. that's near half of a row gone just there as it heals so little.
tbh, that part is biased, but it's because of how tedious it is.--Kizzycocoa 12:43, 17 September 2010 (CDT)
would be nice if bread where stackable though..
yeah, it would be. :C--Kizzycocoa 12:54, 17 September 2010 (CDT)
I hope I'm not screwing this up... My first thought when I saw bread was: bread plus ham equals Sandwich! Perhaps down the road we'll see some basic cooking taking place with added benefits. (Crafting a loaf of bread over a cooked or raw ham with a loaf of bread at the bottom could yield 2 sandwiches with a max 2 stack that each replenish like 8 hearts. I dunno just my thoughts.
it should happen and replenish 7 hearts IMO.--Kizzycocoa 13:49, 17 September 2010 (CDT)

Bread does NOT hurt wolves[edit source]

I've changed it before but someone changed it again. I tried it for myself and it has no effect on them, i'm changing it back

  • edit oops, i changed it on the wolf page. same point though --Deanm 20:09, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Order[edit source]

It would make sense putting the Crafting Section above the advantages, and the advantages above the disadvantages section, wouldnt it?

Now that it's stackable...[edit source]

"A stack of 64 wheat and a workbench can be carried in a player's inventory into the mines so bread may be crafted as needed for a total of 52.5 hunger points." Is this worth mentioning anymore? Doomed fireman 02:37, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Full food bar?[edit source]

I've noted that, at least in SMP on the minerealm survival server, bread restores the food bar to full no matter what it's content (similar to a golden apple before 1.8). I don't know if this is universal, but I will do further testing. dlgn 10:16, 5 October 2011 (PST)

Bread in the Full Release[edit source]

Bread in Full Release

'Bread is a food item available in Indev (added on February 6, 2010), Infdev, Alpha, and Beta.' Which is, to say, bread isn't in the Full Release? Needs a fix :D 69.245.28.115 19:45, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

I discovered something[edit source]

Right clicking a chest in a minecart with bread and having some hunger points causes you to eat the bread.

What I'm saying is clicking a Chest in a minecart with bread in your hand and NOT having full hunger points causes you to eat it.

It's unknown if this works with the other foods.

Same thing happens while planting carrots and potatoes.75.163.215.33 01:15, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Idea for foods[edit source]

I think we should the saturation level that it has. UFB (talk) 01:39, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Village house chest loot?[edit source]

Bread can be found 80.6% of village house chests, 71.7% of village house chests, 66.3% of village house chests, 76.9% of village house chests, and 65.6% of village house chests. I didn't understand how bread can have different chance for every chest. ImakerB (talk) 05:12, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
