Page necessity[edit source]

Is this page really necessary? This is an item (not a block) and all the info covered in here is already in the crafting page.

If this page should exist I suggest adding gold and iron bar too and adding links to relevant pages. Perhaps even make a page with all of the items in there.

-Alphasoldier

  • I believe you are right, later today I am going to merge it to crafting if nobody do it and use bars are redirect as well. Thank you for the suggestion. --FuzzyWuff 13:29, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Couldn't we merge the pages for each form of Diamond together? Diamond Ore, Gems and Blocks could all be in a single article as could Iron Ore, Bars and Blocks. The current system causes much confusion with linking from other articles, as I've seen. SteveZombie 19:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

If you feel like spending time on correcting all the pages, feel free to, it's a good idea. Second to that I'm not sure about all entities having a template like that, it's just silly. Heck, if it were up to me I'd just make one big item page, no loads of pages to browse through. Alphasoldier 11:38, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

    • give me a good night of sleep and I will make a grid with all the entities in one single page. It's actually how i did about the different game mode previously, so it should work with mini icons as well on the grid. Thank for the idea alphasoldier, I come up with this within 24 hours i wrote this line is someone doesn't ninja me. --FuzzyWuff 15:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Once you've made the item page I'll be sure to check if all pages are referred correctly, might take long but I'm up to it. --Alphasoldier 21:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Seem like you have a lot of work to do now Alpha :P

also, check what i wrote and not, because i haven't covered all articles yet. --FuzzyWuff 11:13, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

I think that the Gold Bar/Blocks should be in one page, Iron Bar/Block in it's own page, ECT. Would be efficient, and less confusing. CrobenWhat you Want? 23:38, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually, Put the Ore, Mineral/smelted mineral, and block as a single page, and give the page the name of the material (I.e. 'Iron' for the iron stuff) CrobenWhat you Want? 23:57, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Not available in Classic[edit source]

"This (along with items in general) is only available in Indev, Infdev, Alpha and Beta mode." Isn't it much better to just say "This (along with items in general) is not available in Classic."? --[[SpyroCraft007]] was here 00:05, 17 April

I personally think the ores should be a completely different page and the ingots/stuff you can make with it/ what you get when you destroy the ore should be a separate page, just sayin. I get confused when I wanna see the ores, It just brings ME right the the items that you get FROM the ore. So then I go again and it does the same, so I typed in the opposite I typed in "stuff you get from ores" and it finally brought me to the ores page. This is just a little bug I sometimes get and things to make minecraft wiki better ;D

Where's the trivia?[edit source]

seriously, gold and diamond need a trivia section –Preceding unsigned comment was added by KingFlameTail (talkcontribs) 19:49, 29 April 2012 ‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

diamonds found on layer 17-18[edit source]

just now on the xbox 360 edition i found diamonds on layer 17-18(found the layer using the map)so is this how diamonds could generate in 1.7 or is a feature only on 360 edition due to the bottom of bedrock being on layer 5 or is it just a small bug?94.10.237.250 19:48, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

  • I think it isn't a bug it's just a lucky coincidence you've met there. --dariomTc. 17:40, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Diamond vein numbers?[edit source]

I always thought that they spawned in veins of 1-8, not 1-10. Did it get changed, or was I always wrong? InfN555 00:40, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

The world generator creates veins of up to 8 diamond ore. It's possible for two veins to generate very close together, so they may appear to be larger. -- Orthotope 07:42, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Renewable?[edit source]

Unless i'm wrong, please correct me, but to my knowledge:
Diamonds are renewable since:
-Villagers can trade emeralds for diamonds
-Villagers can trade renewable resources for emeralds
Then with this in mind isn't it be renewable?
Just curious, i've probably got the emerald and diamond backwards. Trigger hurt 10:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

They can only purchase diamonds... This information is on the trading page. -- Hower64 10:53, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
oh okay understood, because i swear i saw a villager in one of my old villages that had a diamond for sale. If i could i would provide a world seed, but sadly the world got corrupted because i kept it in my flash drive while it corrupted itself (i have no idea how). Trigger hurt 11:21, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
you are SORT OF right but they only sell diamond armor, tools etc.

so tools and armor of diamond are renewable while the gem is not. check the page and trading Kieranfishing 09:11, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

So in other words enchantment tables and jukeboxes arent renewable but everything else that requires diamonds is. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rolding 8:31, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
No diamond blocks, either. I wouldn't call "tradeable" all that renewable, but I'm not interested enough to carry on that fight. --Mental Mouse 12:05, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Diamond ID[edit source]

I can't find the diamond ID. I don't remember what it is, and it's not on the page. ~negamine 21:51, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

The data value is listed in the infobox on the right side of the page. -- Orthotope 02:03, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

You're not fooling me with your Propaganda (Rewablitiy)[edit source]

Diamonds are renewable, a villager offered me 5 diamonds (Not diamond armour/tools, real, pure, diamonds) for 1 Emerald (Great deal) I even took a screenshot of it. So you're not gonna fool me with this propaganda. 184.63.213.218 07:54, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

(fixed) You don't have to be all weird about it. Kanegasi C 07:56, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
On second thought, I made a mistake checking what we know already, so I have reverted the change. We need more proof than your post here. Kanegasi C 08:02, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Well, I suppose Trading is hardly renewability, as Emerald isn't renewable, but still, great deal. 184.63.213.218 03:39, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Emeralds are renewable since you can get them from trading. The mistake I made is probably the same one you did. Items on the left are what you have to give them while ones on the right are what you get. According to what we know, diamonds only appear on the left, usually asking for 4-5 of them. They do not offer to give diamonds in a trade. I'll clarify what I stated above. We need a screenshot or some other type of proof that you were offered a trade to give you diamonds, not take them. They should add things needed to be crafted with diamonds[edit source]

I find in multiplayer worlds especially I eventually get four stacks of diamonds or so that I have no use for. I think they should add things like diamond shears or some redstone thing involving diamonds crafted with redstone to improve the signal strength or something. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Zbow050 (talkcontribs) at 15:38, 26 June 2013‎ (UTC). Oh, no use at all for extra diamonds on a multiplayer world? Riiight. Try making some armor, weapons and tools, or just showing off a build with diamond blocks. And this is not the place for suggestions, try the forums. --Mental Mouse 16:03, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Experience[edit source]

Could someone add how much experience you get for mining these things? I saw they've added exp values for monsters, but not ores. PuzzleMage 03:13, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

It's listed on the Experience page: 3-7 XP for mining them, 1 XP for smelting them. --Mental Mouse 04:03, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Diamond hotspot Y coordinate?[edit source]

Diamonds spawn on some levels more than others, you will hardly find any diamonds at Y: 12+ or Y: 6-. In 1.2.4 I used single player commands to remove everything but diamonds in a 20X20 chunk area and found most diamonds occur at level Y:9. I have no screenshots and I have deleted the world since then, but can someone else confirm and maybe add to the page if diamonds occur at some levels more than others? Would be vastly helpful to everyone viewing the article on how to find diamonds better. --65.129.213.164 02:29, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Over a large area (~400,000 chunks), the amount of diamond ore is essentially constant between layers 5 and 12 inclusive. -- Orthotope talk 02:46, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

HOW TO FIND DAIMOOOOOOONDS[edit source]

I really want to find diamonds can anyone give me a good tip for xbox360

There's two tips (in fact, three): (1) See the Mining tutorials under Tutorials, and (2) Talk pages are not an advice forum. Bonus: Duplicate messages aren't appreciated anywhere. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 19:58, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

1-jukebox 2-Armour,full set costs 24 diamonds 3-tools,pick,sword,etc. 4-diamond blocks(fancy!)

Diamond obtaining?[edit source]

Just a quick question for this article: you can get 3 diamonds from mining a nether reactor core. The NRC isn't obtainable anymore legitly, but it still drops diamonds....it mentions this in history but not in the Obtaining section. So I would like to know, is this information worthy of being put into the Obtaining section (same with iron ingots)? -172.68.58.123 18:59, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Anyone? -172.68.58.123 15:33, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
everything outside the history section is supposed to be up to date (see MCW:UPTODATE), so no, we'd leave that in the history section. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 17:04, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
