A swamp hut (previously known as the witch hut), is a randomly-generated stilt house structure found in swamp biomes.
Overview[edit | edit source]
A swamp hut is a small hut, styled after real-world stilt houses. In Minecraft, these are the homes of witches, a hostile mob. Witches are commonly found inside the hut and will spawn naturally in the hut during the night (providing the hut is not lit). The hut is constructed of oak wood logs and spruce wood planks as the main building parts, and fences as bars on the windows. Swamp huts typically contain one pot that holds either a red or brown mushroom. They also contain a crafting table and a cauldron possibly containing potions. As of 1.14 swamp huts always generate with a black cat inside. This black cat can be tamed and, it is possible to get this type of cat from a spawn egg.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Swamp huts mostly spawn in water. But on rare occasions, huts can generate outside of swamp biomes.
- Due to the height and lack of stairs, if a witch falls out of its hut, it cannot get back in on its own.
- A swamp hut makes an appearance in Minecraft: Story Mode. It appears when Jesse and his/her friends are on the run from Ivor and the Wither Storm.
